Phases

A lot has changed around the house since May and my digging expedition. I took some time off to collect myself ,enjoy the house and let new ideas collect on the drafting board in my head. Two things, call them rules, that I've learned since moving in. First, don't rush into demolition, it's always easier to take down than it is to put up. Likewise, developing a relationship with this house has helped me to see it's potential, what it's capable of becoming and what I can do to get it there. Second, no matter how extensive you feel your home renovation is going to be or to what extent you will let it occupy your life, unpack!. I moved in here and unpacked necessities forgetting about the personal things that made my home feel like I belonged there. I realized after a year how many things were still hidden away in boxes for fear they'd get in the way of progress or become damaged. Now, as I comfortably navigate projects, I have also found time to organize and set out the things I enjoy looking at and make being home feel more like a refuge and less like a construction zone.

In coming posts you will see the nearly end results of Phase 1 (Master Bath & Closet with a focus on the studio or closet addition.
