Apparently we're into starting fires this month. Something we definitely didn't do as tenants. This weekend it was the stream that went up in flames (or smoke, in this case)- an effort to clear the channel and encourage the water to flow more freely. We now have an inky black squiggle that I'm told will be lush and green in 2-3 weeks. It's off to a good start like so many things around here that have been neglected for way too long.
No weekend around here would be complete without hooking something up to a truck and pulling it down, so we bestowed that privilege on 6 huge privet bushes. They had been planted in a row outside the kitchen window. Now they're along the far property line providing a welcome privacy screen. Yes, we went to the trouble of transplanting an invasive 'weed' shrub, because when your budget looks like ours, you gotta use whatcha got.
