We're well into July and the temperature is rising both outdoors and in our desire to renovate...sooo..... we did. The impulse was overwhelming and since I only needed a crowbar, not too much preparation took place, to Sarah's chagrin. Soon drywall was flying and holes were appearing, the unmistakable sound of boards being ripped out etc. No plastic was up to catch the dust or paper to make a walk way but progress was afoot and it felt good. I had forgotten how much drywall dust sticks to things, there was a downy layer over most things. We have since proceeded through the wall to the adjoining boot room, into which the bathroom will stretch and be accompanied by closets...maybe. Plans have been changing a lot as we realize alternatives. I feel good with the progress we've made and have learned that you need time to feel out the living situation so changes only have to be made once. I love it down here in the hollor' and could never have imagined the few things we've done having such an impact. It's evolving and rising out of the ashes...literally.
